Easter During Quarantine

Canceling my train ticket from NYC to home for a long weekend celebrating with family felt crushing. What would have been a quickly packed duffle bag of fun Easter dresses became a suitcase of rotated clothing in quarantine. *sigh* Not being able to celebrate with my entire family makes me so sad. Here are some ways you can still celebrate Easter even in quarantine.

Church

As Nonna said, “Easter will never be canceled in our hearts.” You can still live stream Easter mass from your living room! Check out your local church to see if they are offering a service!

Egg Hunt

My Papa always sets up our family egg hunt. This year set yours up around your house. Joe’s mom and I came up with funny “egg fortunes” that could go in the cookies. We were dying laughing coming up with them. Some of our favorites include:

Family Zoom

Keep your grandparents involved from a safe distance with a family zoom. My cousins and I will be calling our grandparents to say grace and chat. I was thinking that we also do a family trivia game online while we are all apart! You could have fun questions to ask while you are on zoom too!

Sweets

If there is one thing to love more than your family, it’s gotta be the sweets! This year I got the recipe’s from my mom for our classic biscottis and ricotta cookies. They turned out great! Baking sweets together is the best! Recipes are both below – permission from my mom to share! These are family secrets! haha

Games

Playing a game is a great way to bring some fun back into the holiday! We love playing fishbowl and Pictionary. Some games that you can have right away for tomorrow 🙂

  • Fishbowl
  • HeadsUp
  • Charades
  • Kahoot Family Trivia (takes some time to make)
  • Pictionary – look up words online
  • Minute to Win it challenges

More games for possible selected materials

  • Water balloon “egg” toss
  • Egg and spoon race
  • Bunny hop sack race
  • Corn hole
  • Pin the tail on the bunny
  • Clue hunt with eggs

Perspective

While every part of our normal routine has been stripped away, there is always hope, love and family to keep us grounded.

I hope you have a safe, happy & healthy Easter whichever way you choose to celebrate!
