Gift Guide: DIY

I’ve always loved a good DIY! This year I made some of my own gifts for the ones that I love. I decided to make some of my shells and beach treasures into crafts! P.S I know the struggle of trying to recreate a perfect pinterest DIY pin…these DIY crafts are all relatively easy so don’t stress yet!

Supplies

Ornaments!

Years ago I made ornaments out of shells from my grandparents beach. I loved how they turned out! You will need:

  • shells
  • drill
  • twine
  • gold or silver spray paint
  • clear spray – to make the paint hold!

First you drill a small hole in each shell. After this spray paint all of your shells outside. I recommend letting the shells dry overnight! Once they are dry you can take your twine and loop it through the shells. I wrote the date on the inside of my shells. And there! All done! Super fast and easy!

Another ornament idea!

My grandmother always makes us a new handmade ornament for Christmas each year so this next idea was hers! She gave us a clear ornament filled with sand from her beach. On the outside she wrote the name of the beach and the date. *tears* Loving this idea so much I decided to give it my own twist. I took all of the shells that Joe and I collected in Italy and put them into an ornament!! (Joe please don’t be reading this!!!)

You will need:

  • glass or plastic ornament – I bought mine from Amazon here
  • sand/sea glass/ shells/anything you want to fill your ornament with!
  • ribbon

Sea glass art!

I saw this idea on Pinterest and was hooked! Click here to see where I got my inspiration from!  I could spend hours searching for sea glass. This is a great craft for you if you have a collection too!

What you will need:

  • sea glass or shells
  • hot glue gun & glue sticks
  • a small white frame
  • tweezers
  • thin sharpie

After finding some inspiration online I set my sea glass up into different shapes with tweezers. Once doing this I glued all of the pieces down and with a thin sharpie added in any extra lines to bring my picture to life (waves, a smile, dot for an eye, etc). After this I put the masterpiece into a frame and it was ready to wrap! I’m probably going to switch my frames out for some shadow boxes so they stay more protected. Here is the final product! I made a Christmas tree, a boat, a whale, & two little love birds on a branch!
