Spotted- A Boston girl arriving and trying to blend in with the eager and early New York City morning rush.
It’s been waiting for you. So…I made the jump from Boston to New York City. I felt the universe pushing me to this city with sweet little signs. This transition has been overwhelming but beautiful all in one. One day my plan was to work and live at home and suddenly I land my dream school and NYC apartment in one day. No one pinch me. I’ve always loved the city. There is always something to do or someone to see. It pulls you out of your shell and makes you come alive.
My new room (shoebox) is slowly but surely coming together. My bed finally arrived! I can’t decide exactly what I want to do with my wall space. Let me know if you have any room decor suggestions!
Here is a little look into my work in progress.
Some new apartment must haves:
Any style book end. This adds so much character to any shelf.
A letter board! I love these! A board of creativity and inspiration! I got mine from amazon here.
A sleeping mask. New York City never sleeps but that doesn’t mean you don’t need z’s. I got my Audrey inspired one here.
A Tile!! Thank you to Tile for sending me my new saving grace! My first day moving in I lost my keys in a sea of clothes and boxes. I may be lost on the train but my keys and phone won’t be! If you are over misplaced keys this is the perfect gadget to look into. You can download the app and track both your phone and keys!

A wooden tray. I love using this for breakfast in bed moments. I also love the look and the extra space to decorate. Click here for the one in my pictures.

Before I had the keys to my new place I stayed with a family friend. One night over dinner she told a story about one of her first few days in the city. She had been through quite the awful day and sat down in a barren room. She dragged herself up and out to get an emotional support…ice-cream. When she got back to her room she sat and opened up a carton of not ice-cream but frozen yogurt. She told me that she began to cry feeling like she couldn’t do anything right, including buying ice-cream.
She told me that I will have days where you feel like crying over frozen yogurt and that’s okay.
This has been a tough and fast transitional time but I’m happy for this new and challenging adventure ahead. I’m happy to come home from my exciting job coffee and marker stained to a space that is finally starting to feel like home. Send any NYC/room decor ideas or recommendations my way!! Corny or girly to end with a gossip girl quote? Yeah, probably.
“Sometimes you need to step outside, clear your head and remind yourself of who you are. And where you wanna be. And sometimes you have to venture outside your world in order to find yourself. As for me, I’m happy right where I am. I only wanna be with you. xoxo Gossip Girl”
New York City. Let’s do this.
Always,
Madison
