Things To Make Working From Home Easier

Woah…can you believe that working from home has become our new reality? It seems like this may be out reality even into the fall, which feels really crazy. As a teacher I have an entire classroom to feel shoved into a laptop feels uncomfortable and restricting. I wanted to share a helpful “working from home” post to hopefully help make your space and situation feel more manageable. I believe in making the environment we live in the best it can possibly be. Nothing is better than coming back to your home or cozy apartment so this should be the same with our workspace too! I’m going to be giving our desk in NYC a facelift when we get back too! 🙂

Blue Light Glasses

With so much computer time we have to protect our eyes!! I had left my blue light glasses in NYC but even before quarantine and extra screen time I had these. I think they help with headaches and migraines too! Blue light is so so bad for us so it’s important our precious eyes are protected!

Good Lighting

Luckily the sun has been glorious here in Utah most days so the natural light pours right in! But investing in a good light that isn’t going to be harsh on your eyes yet will illuminate your space is worth it!!

A Game

While typically I think that video games are a massive waste of time I have unfortunately fallen into the trap. I think that taking a little break from work doesn’t hurt anyone. I needed something to take my mind off of everything happening. I got a Nintendo switch and animal crossing and it’s so cute and fun I could cry about it. All my worries include my cherry trees and rose garden. I’m still learning but message me with your friend code! 🙂

Coffee Machine

If this has taught me anything its that I really don’t need a flat white or medicine ball from Starbucks multiple times a week! I used to order it on my mobile app once I hit a certain train spot so it would be ready for me once I got up to work. For me it was such a nice treat to get once I got off the subway and enjoy while I walked to school. But a coffee machine, while it’s an investment, will save you so much money if you’re a big coffee drinker! I love the Nespresso machine! It is also just nice to have a little part of my morning routine feel calm.

Journal!!!

I am a huge paper person. I love a paper planner and a paper to do list. There is something so satisfying about crossing off tasks from your list. If you follow me on Instagram you know that I recently have been loving my Five Minute Journal. It is such a great way to start and end my day. I feel so glued to screens that it’s a nice moment for me to check out of work and into my brain!!

Fit Bit/Apple Watch

I have been looking into getting an Apple Watch or a fit bit! I had the original Fit Bit in college and I loved being able to see all of my activity. It made me feel accountable and successful!

Big Water Bottle

For now I have been just using mason jars which I love but I need to invest in two big water bottles (one I can leave at work…eventually and one for home) I love these glass water bottles!

Laptop Riser

I needed to invest in this!! I think that helping to create your desk space to be the best it can is so important. This will help with my back pain!

I hope that these help you in some small way! Also while it’s great to add practical things to your space also add some things that you love and make you happy. Go get some flowers, a lava lamp, a jar of candy! Anything!

Always,

Madison
